'98 sporty needs an ignition switch-please help!
lost my keys, errrrr, so bought a new switch/key from fixmyride. Its got 4 leads (black, red, brown, orange), no instructions, errrr. anyone does one of these? do i just need to take the light pod apart and trace the wires around? simple or rather involved? meaning are the 4 connections in the pod or do i have to go further like to a handlebar wire or further? looked polaris schematic-looks like 1 wire goes to ignition start switch, one goes to voltage regulator, another to a 20a breaker and the 4th off to never never land? looked for video but most don't go into much detail-there is an opportunity.... for any help!

Assuming you bought the correct switch the wires all connect to color coded terminals on the main circuit board under the front panel.http://www.ebay.com/itm/1998-Polaris...-/291004095622

Thanks!
Well it's not too late for next time! I'm a wreck with keys!! I keep the polo keys alone because if i keep them on a chain with others then when i turn 1 out 10 times the engine shuts off cuz the keys rub and turn the ignition to off for me, errrr. I gotta figure something out before it happens again! Thanks for the tip, next time!

Ignition switch swap out was EZ
There is barely enought room to work within the pod (w/o disconnecting speedo) but overall it was pretty ez, only took 10 mins. You do have to snake the new/old wiring out thru the pod cuz there is not enough room any other way. Cleaned up the contacts and put dilectric grease. interesting how the board and contacts are all exposed. might manufacture a cover from the bottom/front end of the board, would heat be an issue? Now how to keep those 2 new keys safe?!

You can always buy a magnetic key case for a spare key and mount it to a place on the frame plus zip tie it also in a not so obvious place if you have a habit of loosing keys. Or have a spare key in your wallet or wear a chain with a spare key around your neck if you're a real klutz on loosing keys.. Just use electrical grease on the terminals or spray the terminal board every once in awhile with PB Blaster to help stop any corrosion if you're in a lot of water.
