Good morning OPT. I am having some trouble with a 2007 500X2 EFI. A customer brought it to me not charging. Did some research, and everything was pointing to the control module. So put on a new one last night, and no change. Only getting 10-11 V at the battery at idle. Now, I am pretty sure the battery is done, its a new one but the customer drove the bike a lot, while it was not charging. The bike wont even start with my battery charger hooked to it, but pull starts fine. Could the battery be causing these problems? Of what are your thoughts?

If the battery has been drained down a lot it could be the problem on not holding a charge. Just have it load tested and you'll see real quick whether it has a dead cell or not.

 

Great, thanks. Could that also cause the 10-11V readings at idle?

 

If the battery can't take any higher voltage than that it could,but check the connections along with the new module wiring connectors to make sure everythings right.
