Default 2006 hawkeye 300 4x4 high altitude clutch set up (colors)

hey.. first off this atv(2006 polaris hawkeye 300 4x4) is for my wife and i just picked it up used with about 20hrs and around 35-40 mi it sat inside most of its life....I live and will be useing this atv at aprox 9500 ft in elevation so i jetted the carb per. polaris specs. it starts and runs good. And i get all the rpm i need but it wont go faster than 20 or so mph. i opened up the drive and it has yellow rollers up front and a white rear spring in the secondery clutch. keeping in mind that my wife will be riding this atv along side me on my 2013 500ho sportsman. I would like to know how i can get back stock performance or as close as possible. by tuning the clutch for altitude. What color rollers and rear spring.

Have some Hawkeye owners on the forum that should be able to help you. Give em a little time. Until they show up here's an old post that may or may not help. http://forums.atvconnection.com/pola...ml#post2003286

dont forget to keep an eye on your rear subframe, they were weak on the 2006.

Problem is on Dynojet kits the jets are usually remarked to where you don't know what actual size they are. In the link I posted the owner did solve his problems on jetting and weights for the most part.
"Hawkeye high altitude tuning"
I think the dealer may have figured out the tuning for high altitude! I ride between 5000-10000 ft and the Hawk has been running like crap. I took it to the dealer and they used my machine to do thier testing and they claim that they got it dialed in great. The highest they can get right now because of the snow is 9000.

They used 135 main jet, moved the needle 1 notch ( I am not sure which direction) and changed the clutch weights to a roller set, the exact description off of work order is "Roller set-12 grams red".

I am going to try to get out and ride it this weekend to check for myself.

Hopefully this will help others that are having hight altittude problems.

Unless some of the others have I wouldn't,plus you can check other posts. Didn't get into too many mods on the Hawkeye down here. There are rollers, etc in the rear clutch that eventually will need service, but best to have a manual to help on this.
