i have a 2003 polaris trail boss, it hasent been run i about 2 years. the shifter is froze up and wont budge, does anyone know how to get it unstuck?

also i need to know what wire to unplug so i can get it too start in any gear. thanks

 

If you have to,remove the linkage from the shift lever on the transmission. Rock the machine back and forth while you try to shift the lever with a pair of vice grips.As far as starting in gear I think it can? Too many years and too early in the morning for me to try to remember. If not then the gear position indicator on the transmission is the reason and I wouldn't try to defeat anything like this.

i dont know if rocking it back and forth will help because it is in nutral, but i will try.
