Default 03 predator 500 tranny issues

I was deep in the back country at a friends cabin and it was cold and my battery died so I had to jump my quad and I think I may of stripped out first gear or at least this is what it feels like anyway. I can drive along fine in every gear but when I start off in first and sometimes second and I really come onto her to do wheelies then she slips and I hear that rough grinding noise. is there anyway to tighten up this or do I just need to replace 1st and maybe 2nd gear? or do I look for a new tranny??

Check the condition of your sprockets and chain first. If you rule them out as a problem, could be clutch plates worn causing slipping when under a load especially if it shifts and drives ok in every gear if you take it easy.If you don't have a service manual here's one that can help.2003 Polaris Predator 500 Service Manual PDF Download
