Top End

Best to call several shops if you plan on having this done. Prices vary from shop to shop partly because of labor differences among other things. Some may give you a "ball park" price as really no one knows what all needs to be done until it's apart. May need valves lapped or replaced along with a new bore and piston plus other worn parts. Plus if more than just the top end is needed costs will increase.PLUS you have to be careful as some shops may not be too trust worthy hate to say,but is true. Only way I could ever give an accurate estimate was to tear one down and inspect all what was needed. Then called the customer and either got a yea or nay on the job. Plus I encouraged them to inspect the damage if it was major along with saving the old parts if the customer wanted them back. Find a good reputable shop or either get a good manual, tear it down and farm out the major work and you reassemble saving you money on labor. Other than that you could spend any where from 300-400 bucks or up close to a grand on an engine repair.
