Doesn't happen often,but check fuel valve in the on position and also reserve position. Fuel valves can stop up along with filters. Dirt Cheap Yamaha & Polaris OEM Parts & Accessories – Cycle Parts Warehouse If fuel valve is okay,then yes you can turn the fuel valve off,pull the intake line from the tank to the pump(top line) add a section of hose if necessary to reach the carb. Clamp off the line until it's hooked to the carb or you'll have a mess.

 

Well i went out and double checked.... I am in fact getting fuel from the fuel filter.... so i guess the next thing for me to do when i get some spare time is to check the cams for wear.... uhhgg.... im starting to think i paid too much for this thing now lol
