Exclamation Having a little scare with the polaris

I recently bought a 2006 polaris sportsman 500 H.O EFI. Today when I tried to turn it on I heard a super load Pop kinda like a gun shot, curious is to what that is? It was being used heavily before it happend, trying to pull my moms car out of mud, it felt pretty hot (the engine). Anyway I'm a little curious for the noise and what i have to fix.

If it was just a one time thing, I wouldn't worry too much about it. If it keeps doing it, then I'd start to check things out.

Efi hickup which is common considering all the electronics involved.Had a few do the same thing. But could be starting of a sensor wiring problem that many of them had. Just ride it and see if it starts happening again. If it does, then most times it's in the t-bap harness and wiring. One of the symptoms that it can show. Back firing, erratic idle, hard starting, etc.

Then check the t-bap harness wiring for any bare or soft feeling wires that could have shorted out internally.Plus you can check the tps harness wiring also. Sometimes jiggling the wiring may reveal the offending wiring harness while it's running. Best place to get a new connector and wiring if needed is here.Only The Best
