YellowFellow posted on another site that the Sportsman700 showed up accidently on the Polaris Locator list. It was removed the following day. YellowFellow confirmed this with the rep he knows. I am starting to beleive there may be something to this SP700 talk.

I don't doubt there will be a larger cc'ed Sportsman. Imagine a 700! Polaris likely make it bigger than anything currently out there.

The sad thing is that we will probably have to pay list.

Its my guess that even if there is a 700cc Sportsman,it will at least weigh the same or more than the HO.And it probably wont be near as fast as the 650 Kawi twin either. So im not really all that excited just yet,

Fast is not the only reason one buys a Sportsman, the suspension is ther main reason. But, when you think about it, the SP500HO is about 100lbs heavier than the Grizzly, and it is 100ccs smaller, and the HO will outrun a Grizzly. What makes you think a SP700 won't outrun the new Kaw650? I am keeping an open mind about the whole thing.

I agree gregsims, we not only outrun the Grizz speed wise we can go over rougher terrain allot faster do to the great suspension system we have, and go further in the mud via the best 4x4 system currently sold on an ATV. I am sure the 700 if not out run it will certainly be very close. The best reason to own a Sportsman is the power and the ride, the 4x4 system and the auto tranny. all out top speed I leave to the sport quads. weight in the utility class has never hurt Polaris much at all. yeah it will be 7500 or more i bet, unless they plan to drop the price of the 500 ho and make the 700 6999.

Gregsims,
I agree, the ride on the Sportsman is second to none.I had a 99 500cc Sportsman with tons of problems.I finally got it straightened around and come to the conclusion that it was just to damn heavy for my liking[697lbs dry weight].I bought a 400cc 2000 model Xplorer and later sold the Sportsman.I dont really miss it at all.

The Xplorer is much faster/snappier in every phase of the race,it is 110lbs lighter, and I dont miss the ride a bit on the Sportsman because the Xplorer rides excellant too.I took off the UGLY brown seat cover on the Xplorer and had my buddie at the upholstery shop add one inch of padding and cover it in BLACK,im STYLIN now.

There are some drawback to the Xplorer vs the Sportsman, like rear chain drive vs all shaft drive, however,it is my opionion that I still like the Xplorer more,at least for my use anyways.

I dont think the Sportsman will be able to take the twin 650cc Kawi 4x4.The Kawi is also around 600lbs to.Its very hard to beat the power a twin deleivers, but only time will tell?

I didnt believe the rumors going around about a SP 700 either. But about a month ago I was talking to my Polaris dealer and I asked if he had heard about the Kawasaki 650 coming out. He said he did, then I told him Polaris needs to build something to compete with it. Thats when he grinned and said Polaris already has the answer to that. He said they have a V-twin 733cc!! I said yea I wish. He said that he was dead serious that he has already seen it. He said that they have a few bugs to work out of it before it was perfected. Then I asked when it would be released and he said that he didn't know about that. I dont think he was just blowing smoke, because he seemed to be so thrilled about it. I guess we will just have to keep hoping and praying until it arrives.

the sp700 engine is a in-line twin. its the same engine that polaris is using in there four stroke sled. it also has a Bosch EFI unit. the engine is very narrow if u look a the pics of it.
