No lights or speedo mph/mileage accumulation doesn't function? If it's just the mph doesn't work, usually the hall effect sensor on the right front caliper. Item #42.Dirt Cheap Yamaha & Polaris OEM Parts & Accessories – Cycle Parts Warehouse

Do you have power to the ignition switch, low beam and high beam lights and does machine run?

everything works but speedometer and mileage/hour meter. all the lights work low and high. no lights in speedometer. runs great awd works only thing is reverse override only stops awd from working in reverse not speed in reverse

Over ride button should allow awd and full power in reverse. If it doesn't then it can be bypassed if you wish as the limiter and awd does go through the speedo. Pull the speedo connector and check that you have at least power to one red wire. This is for the memory. You can snap the connector apart and check if pins have pulled back or for any damaged wires at the connector or down into the harness.Service manual has a complete speedo check along with the schematics. If it turns out the speedo is bad,a new one isn't cheap.Around $300. If your speedo is out you would have no AWD. If you AWD is fine then its the wheel senor.

Here is a couple of tricks if its not the Hall effect sensor. because I would not pay $300 for a speed.

Bypass the speedo.
My 1999 polaris explorer will not go into 4 wheel - Fixya or this

This is a speedo fix.

If you have power to the memory wire and the connector and pins are ok,you can check the speedo trouble shooting guide and schematic in the manual on the individual pins to eliminate a harness power problem.DOWNLOAD 1996-2003 Polaris Worker/Sportsman/Xplorer 400/500 Repair ... OR pm TaterTots as she's the main one that has torn one apart and got hers to work..Hopefully she'll see this and respond, that is if you're inclined to tear one apart. Didn't do this in the shop as speedos were within easy reach, short walk to the parts room...
