oven cleaner?

Default oven cleaner?

so ive been doing some reading on some old posts from various places and ppl are saying to use oven cleaner to degrease the engine and other greasy parts...is this still excepted or should i just go buy actual engine degreaser?..

It may dull the finish on some metals. I use simple green when I cleaned mine.

Not sure what the cleaner might do to some plastic or decals too.

i chose "purple power" over simple green...seen some better reviews...hope its good

wasnt thinking at the time...did you use simp green on your plastics too? wonder if this purple stuff is ok with plastics...

I've used both, usually whichever is cheaper. Never had problems with it and the plastic.

I use the same spray bottle over and over, so at some point I may have been using purple green or simple power.

Working in a bodyshop for 25 years, we used to use oven cleaner to take painted on writing off the sides of commercial vehicles. It takes the lacquer sign paint off real nice, but it will stain plastic and decals. I uses purple power diluted to 1 to 1. Do not let it dry on the plastic or decals though, it may still stain if left to dry.

i let that purple power sit for maybe 2 minutes then sprayed it all off....worked better than i thought it would! never seen the quad so clean..prolly hasnt been this clean since new lol....i went fishing right after and it rained like a **** and i got her muddy again
