I’m actually a little embarrassed to tell you all this one

As every smart quad rider should, I washed my baby down the other night after mudding it up pretty good. I washed and washed, trying to get it looking show room new. After it meet my approval, I towel dried it and took it for a quick spin to blow the water off. It still wasn’t quite dry, so I air hosed it to make sure it was dry.

Well, I’m ready to grease it down now, so I bring out the Pam and Armor All. Just as I give the Armor All bottle a pump, I feel a few drops or rain start to fall. I throw everything down so I can move this process to the garage.

I hop on my Boss, check the gear, turn the key, flip the choke, push the start button, IT WON”T START!!!!
Not to worry, I flip the choke half-way, push the start button, IT WON”T START!! Still not really worried, I take the choke off, push the start button, IT WON”T START!! Now I’m worried. Oh, but wait I have to make sure the gas is on, it is. So, I push the start button IT WON”T START!! I try the pull start with the choke in each and every position, IT WON”T START!! I try to start it in forward, neutral, and reverse, IT WON”T START!! I’M BEYOND PANIC!!!!

Did I blow something off with the air hose? Did I blow water on the plug and foul it?. Did I blow water in the engine? Maybe I blew water in my carb!!!! Oh God help me, have I killed my quad already? Quick run inside and post a message to the forum they’ll know what to do!!

Wait the phone rings!! “Look mom, I can’t talk right now I have a crisis!! I’ve got to get on the web and get help now!!!”

But wait….could it be that mom actually knows everything!! Certainly not, she would know what do with a quad if it hit her in the face!!

“Calm down dear, go make sure the battery is good” (Duh mom it’s turning over and I have lights)

“Don’t you have a switch or something that allows gas to flow to the carburetor?” (Duh mom I checked that. Look, if you’ll just let me log on to the forum…)

“Well just hold on. Gas, do you have gas” (Duh again, do you think I would try to start it without having gas in it?) (But wait, I never thought to check that DUH ME!!!) (Yeah Mom, there’s a little gas in here)

“Enough to start it?” (Whadda ya mean enough to start it? I see gas so it should start. Look can I go now there’s gas in it already!)

“Do you have a reserve switch?” (Yes!! Uh oh?)

“I don’t know dear, but I think once the gas falls below a certain level you have to switch to the reserve don’t you? Just go out there and try it. Oh, and be sure to give it a good shove to get the gas flowing”

Now there’s no way in hell this will work. I’ve messed up my quad and that’s all there is to it. Mom doesn’t, and couldn’t know what she’s talking about. So I switch, I shove, I turn the key, and I flip the choke, and push the start button…. IT STARTS!! It’s soaked from the rain, but it starts!!

Thanks Mom, I owe ya one………….
