Default 2003 Polaris 700 "StAtr"

Hey I am new to the forum!
I was driving my 03 sportsman 700 and noticed "StAtr" flashing on the screen. I have read in the forums that it could be stator or ground issues? I checked grounds at the front under the panel everything seems ok and tight, I have 14volts while idling. The bike starts and runs fine just flashes this code. I just purchased it about a month ago and it looks like it has the original ignition system. any other things that i can check before i replace with the upgrade kit?
thanks in advance.

You've checked enough. Replace with the Kokusan ignition upgrade kit #2202602 Here's a good video that shows the problem on hidden wires that the instructions don't show when hooking the new kit up.

Unfortunately the best solution is to do the replacement. It may intermittently run OK and then it will just not start....Yes I speak from experience.

Good Luck.
