As for getting my wife the 800 Renegade, I want her to have a bigger cc machine that can get through the mud/swamps/trails we ride with some "minor" modifications. Not going to get her another "value line" machine. If anything, I might keep my 1000 Scrambler for her after I sell her 570 and plunk my $ on a 2016 XMR 1000 since my Scrammy is already dialed in.
It seems like you have all the problems fixed on the Scrambler with the axles replaced and you would lose a ton of money by trading it in. All those extras that you added don't add a lot of money to the trade in value, at least not nearly as much as you spent. If she really likes the Sportsman 570, you could fix it and keep it but it seems you have already lost confidence in the machine. A Renegade 800 would be a definite step up in power. Even an Outlander 650 would be a lot more power than the Sportsman 570, 62 hp vs 44 hp for the Sportsman 570. I think Can-Am should have offered the Renegade with the 650 engine. I think they would have sold a lot of them.

I got a smoking deal on her 570 and will be able to sell it for more than I paid for it. Same goes my Scrambler. Won't trade that in unless the deal is right. Still thinking about keeping the Scrambler for her and picking the 1000 XMR up on a cash deal. Not in a hurry now since wheeling season is about done here in MN. Anxiously awaiting some snow so I can get my sled out

If you can do that on any atv no matter what brand then jump on it. Doesn't happen very often! Same thing I was able to do on my old Honda street bike. Had it 10 years and sold it for quite a bit more than I paid for it. Even though at times I do kinda miss it,the money was nice and came in handy... This way you can shop around and get what you really want.

Change of plans-sold the 570 and got a call from my dealer. Got the new 2016 Sportsman 1000 Highlifter Edition in and asked me to come take a look. Pretty impressed with the set-up on the 1000 and the 850. Not sure why they didn't have the bumper/winch included on the 850 but it's $4k cheaper than the 1000 (without EPS on the 850). Don't really care about power steering so might pull the trigger on the 850 and add the bumper/winch. Either ride will be a killer deal-can get the 1000 for $13,100 or the 850 for $9100. Planning on keeping my 1000 Scrambler for the wife so looks like I'll be sticking with Popo after all. Can't get a deal on a Can Am close to that $!

My 2012 Outlander Max has the QE system. Much faster to engage than my son's Renegade from 2009.

The 850 does sound like a pretty good deal for $9100. I can't imagine why they wouldn't include the winch at least on the 850 but obviously to lower cost I suppose. A good winch is around $300 or so anyway. Still seems like a very notable omission on a machine designed for mud. The 850 still has more than enough power for most.

Congrats.
That is what keeps drawing me back to Polaris - pricing. Im looking at either an Ace or Ranger next time around, the Renegade is crazy expensive. And 30% exchange rate don't help either.

Damned arthritus has forced to to admit I aint getting any younger. So, Ace or Ranger next time.

That's something that always leaves me scratching my head. I can hit over 68 mph with the 650 in the Outlander Max loaded with me and gear. Can't imagine that you'd ever need more than the 650 in the Renegade. The 800 and 1000 have so much power you have to keep off of it or really pay attention in the corners. Hit the throttle too much and the front end lightens up to the point it can effect your steering. 650 is just about the perfect balance to me. My own .02 worth.

Be sure to get power steering if you can swing it. Worth every dollar it adds in my opinion.

I wish Polaris had made a Scrambler 570, I know I've said this somewhere else too. I think that is a model that would sell like crazy. Price it just less than the Sportsman 570 and it would be a huge hit. I had a Scrambler 500 before and the extra power of the 570 along with irs and no chain drive to give much more ground clearance would eliminate all the shortcomings the previous Scrambler models had. Not to mention actual racks and waterproof front storage and I'd be sold
