Default 2005 700 Sportsman Injector Stuck Open

Started off running rough then quit, code 52. Pulled the injector bridge and the right injector is stuck open, spray fuel when key is turned on.

What is the fix?

52 injector 2: open load/ short circuit to ground/ short circuit to battery. Check the wiring for any abrasion or cuts causing power to be constant at the injector. If you can't find the wiring problem or it can't be repaired then replacement is needed.120 bucks here. May be cheaper at other online sites.http://www.partzilla.com/parts/detai...FYsAaQodG1sBJA Don't overlook the oil for any fuel contamination also.

Could the injector have been stuck in the open position? I did a cleaning and it is working. Will reinstall today and check.
Have read your post from the past and have checked the wiring to no avail.
Checked coil as well.

Possible it can stick and if you can clean it without damaging it or the o-ring you can save some $. I'd replace the inline filter as a first line of defense on trash/deposits that could cause injector problems.Polaris Sportsman 700 EFI 2004 2005 Fuel Filter 2520223 | eBay

OPT, so if it is a short wouldn't it need to be two wires shorted to get power to open the injector and if that is the case wouldn't it need to be between the ECU and the injector?
Trying to wrap my head around this.

If it's working now as you say then wouldn't worry about it if it was a spec of dirt/trash causing the problem and isn't an electrical problem. Yes usually two wires shorting or it could be a problem at the ecu itself on electrical problems. If it doesn't act right after you've cleaned it,can't find any problems in the lead, then he best way and sometimes the only way to find out the problem is having it on on Digital Wrench. Usually it can tell you pretty quick where the fault is. Beats pulling your hair out on some hard electrical problems as there's only so much you can do at home with a meter plus can save you $ in the long run and not having to guess and throw parts at one.

agreed, thanks. I'll plug it back in, hook up the tank and see what happens. If it is still wide open and spraying I'll take it in. Appreciate the help.

No joy. Still open.

Found 2.6 volts to the R/BLK wire in the pigtail followed it up to Splice #2 location "K" and the R/BLK paired wire also has 2.6 volt. I would guess this is enough voltage to keep the injector open? I am unsure how to trace from Splice #2.

This second wire goes to Splice #6 then returns as a R/GRY to the coil. It shows 4.6 volts. No current on other two wires on the coil.

Latest findings, for whatever reason injector #1 (51) unplugged has 4.6 volts on the white wire (from ECU) at the pigtail plug.

Injector #2 is fine, no voltage on either wire at the pigtail plug

Plug in #1 injector and I get 2.6 volts on both R/BLK and White.

2.6 v on the R/ BLK wire on #2 at the plug

I'm sure if I plug in #2 that the voltage would be down both wires as well but why is only #2 staying open?

Here's a 5 buck manual that you can use to check the electrical out to a certain point. If still in doubt it may pay to have it on Digital Wrench. Usually one hr labor charge can pin point the problem and keep you from buying any unnecessary parts that you couldn't return.
