Air pump a hand or DC and tire plug kit. A flat is the end of the riding day.

Also a soft cooler bag because hard coolers will knock your beer and ice around like dice in a YAHTZEE can.

I never lost a helmet before so maybe just bringing one would be good.

This pump can fit under a seat.

Matches, lighter, fire start, water, big contractor's size trash bags. Can be used as a rain coat in a pinch and even a quick shelter if you slice one side. Tow strap if you expect to hit deep mud or water. I've also pulled people off rocks when the got high centered. Enough snacks that you'd have food for a day in a pinch. I also bring a firearm if I'm out in the middle of nowhere by myself. Biggest concern I have walking out is coyotes or momma moose.

You never know whats going to happen on a really long ride. I haven't really been on one of those in a long time, mostly just shorter rides.

Outside of your land or riding on someone else's property it's illegal to ride in Mass. except for a couple state parks out in Western Mass.
