1995 Polaris 400l 2 stroke waterpump
#1
I have a 400 xplorer the counterbalance shaft that the water pump seals on is in terrible shape and not sealing I've looked online and the used ones look risky and new is very pricey question is I'm sure I could mount an external pump and make it work just not sure on how many gpm the pump will need to push and if it is ok on the motor to leave the pump intact or if I should pull at least the impeller any help would be greatly appreciated

Have your counter balancer rebuilt. Cheaper in the long run to do that. Look at the bottom of this listing for services offered.Polaris 350 400 Balance 3087042 Repair Service w P Bearing and Seals Included | eBay

Thanks for the response I will listen to your advice just curious now do to the shaft being bent slightly oops! A Buddy has a 1996 scrambler 400 bottom end he would sell for parts looks the same but the fly wheel looks a little different then the one in my atv question being is that scrambler bottom end same as a 95 xplorer bottom end

Mechanical parts are the same on all 400s. His stator, flywheel, cdi are different on his Scrambler. Your model has a pick up coil, his has an exciter coil. You can use his bottom end and use your stator and flywheel if you wish.
