I have been studying the schematics and I don't see anything except the ECM which I assume has a built in CDI. It has so many sensors. Speed, shift, angle, thermo, throttle, etc. I wonder if the retard of timing is confined within with no wire to clip

With the stuff Honda come up with entirely possible. I had my fill of the early Honda models with electronic shifting problems that came into the shop that owners didn't want to take them to Honda. After a few of those I sent the people to Honda anyway.. Good machines but overly complicated in some areas.
