Default Sportsman 700 project

As I mentioned in the intro thread I am resurrecting an 03 Sportsman 700 that was given to me and sat in the weather for two years.
I started by trying to get it to start, the battery was actually broken not just dead,my battery charger didnt even recognize that a battery was attached.so i hooked it up with jumper cables to my boat battery and got it to turn over but not start however with a shot of starting fluid it would start for a second,so the next step was to check the carburetor and this what i found.

After cleaning the carb (sorry i forgot to take after pics) and replacing old fuel in tank I found the carb boot to the air box cracked and split so i repaired it with duct tape and ordered a new one and then finally got it to stay running a little rough but still running.
Next step is replace front Cv boot that is torn .

I have a electrical problem. I have no power to anything. Sometimes I can get it to work but most the time it's like there is no battery. Any clues
