***IT IS HEAVY*** I went out riding this weekend by myself on my scrambler 500. I was going to take my come-along with me just in case but didn't. Well to make a long story short, I flipped it going up a small 5 ft hill with a 1ft lip at the top. I got the front tires over the lip the first try slowly but I need just a little more to make it over. I backed up and went a little faster and it stood right up. I knew it was coming over so I got out of the way. Now here is the major problem, it landed upside down in the creek between the gully and it was too heavy to flip back over. I tried every position and every angle to flip it back and nothing worked. After watching most of the oil and gas leak out over 2 hours of me trying to turn it right side up, and since I barfed from all of the hard work at once, I gave up. I was bruised, scratched, and very sore plus I had a two mile walk through the mud and woods while wearing waders. I finally made it to a house and borrowed a come-along and walked back down and immediately pulled the atv right side up. I could not reach the key to cut the power off so the lights stayed on for at least two hours, when I got on, it fired up the first try. good ol' Polaris! All of this crap just so I could save 30 minutes by not going all of the way around the creek. I do believe I learned a very good lesson this weekend, 1 - I should not ride by myself, because it could have been alot worst if I got trapped under it. 2 - I'll always carry a come-along just in case. I consider myself to be very experienced with 15 years + of riding but even on the most simplest hill something did go wrong, so please everybody just be careful and have fun. Boy am I sore today!!! At least I got free skybox tickets to the NASCAR race on Sunday at Charlotte, it made the recovery the day after REAL NICE.

I had a similar experiance once. I need to get a come-a-long too. I ride alone a lot, nobody else to ride with. :-( I take it easy by my self though.

I have left my key on over night 2-3 times now. And it always fires right up! I am suprised every time, both that I forgot it on, and that it starts.

So, did anything break?

Steve,
Glad to hear nothing was hurt too bad. Nothing worse than seeing the bottom of your quad. Missed you at Uwharrie over the weekend, but we're going to Brown this weekend. If you can make it let me know. We are leaving after work on Friday & camping the weekend. These 500s can really deliver the mail! Marie did excellent this weekend on the 400. She had the biggest head turner of the weekend. Her quad looks awesome. Only 1 ding in the new Douglas's. Working on a website, I'll let everyone know when & where. Let me know if you can make it.

-Have you put the disks back in the muffler?

Adam, I was lucky, nothing was damaged on the quad. I ride alone alot also, just cause I like to ride everyday and others don't or can't. The come-along hooks on the back rack real nice for carrying and from now on I will always carry it. MR. Jerome, Jamie and myself will be at Brown Mnt this weekend for sure. We are leaving saturday morning around 7:00am so I figure we should be in the parking lot by 9:00-9:30. We are camping out Sat. night up on the main trail, we are going to drive his truck up as high as we can. If you find a good place on the hill save some room for us and we will join you. We are both riding 99 Scramblers and we will be in a white ford truck. Be out around the main trail or parking lot around that time and we will hook up. Oh yeah, I did put my discs back in just so you would be happy It looks like it is going to be a great weekend for camping and an even better weekend to take pictures of all of the leaves changing colors with a few Scramblers mixed in. Who all is going with ya?

Steve,

Great! Looking forward to it! We will camp Friday & Saturday night. I'm hoping the spot at the bottom of the hill on the left is open, kinda close to the bathrooms. I'll be on a Green Expedition. We are going with some guys that rise dirt bikes, but we are suppose to meet some guys from Raleigh on 4 wheelers. Jarod is going, he will ride my bike, I will ride Marie's, she said 2 weekends in a row was a little much for her. Here's the deal, Saturday morning about 6 of the dirt bikes are lining up to race around the outside loop, about 18 miles. The 4wheelers are right behind. Everybody puts $20 in the pot, 1rst 4wheeler & dirtbike to finish split the pot. Sounds like the perfect opportunity for me to lighten your wallet up a little (lol). Try to find us Saturday morning. '99 Scrambler 400 & 500. (Look for the purple & yellow).

See ya there,

Jerome Coker

Myscrambler

My dad owns about 200 acres w/ all kinds of terrain. I have a 160 right now and looking to get a 00 scrambler 500 around another month or so. I went to the atv expo in charlotte this past weekend and it was lots of fun. I went sat and watched the race. I demoed all polaris models (no demos on sports though) I love the quads. I cant wait to get the scram 500. Quite a few of my friends have taken trips to brown (they go quite frequently) Whats it like.

1 question. How would the transition be from a warrior to a scram. i had one and sold it and im stuck w/ a power wheel (160) I am also used to riding 00 400ex. My best friend has one and he lets me ride all the time. Whats your email. Ill keep in touch w/ you and when i get my quad, we'll set something up..

Thanks

I had a 300EX before my Sportman 500 and then I wanted to have the suspension of my 300EX and the AWD,auto, and floorboards of my Sportsman. So I traded my Sportsman for the 99 Scrambler 500. I can ride it like the 300ex but it has all of the features of polaris. I have ridden every atv that's worth riding and the Scrambler 500 beats them all in every catogory. I love everything about it but replacing the cv boots. I just replaced one about a month or two ago and now I have to do it again. Oh yeah plus all Polaris have cheap *** tie rod ends. They wear out real quick and make your steering loose, they are total crap. So besides does two things which can be improved, the Scrambler 500 is the way to go. If you can ride a warrior good then it should take very little time to adjust.
