I learned real quick to use an air hammer to remove roll pins after banging my knuckles with a hammer. Air impact with a ground down bit usually makes short work of removing these frozen roll pins,or at least out far enough that you can finish removing it a standard punch and hammer. You can get extended length impact bits also to use on hard to reach pins.Always use a new one when reinstalling the drive shaft.

And don't bother replacing it. I always remove them when I get a new machine and replace with a nylock nut/bolt that fits in snug and just long enough to thread the nut on. Coat the bolt with some never seeze and you'll be good to go!
