no go when in rear wheel drive only

No problem. The Xpedition does share the same rear end as the Magnum. That's what I was thing about when you said the rear wheels wouldn't turn. A lot of times the drive shaft coupler splines are stripped out because it wasn't kept greased. A lot of people didn't even know it had one as it's partially blocked by the box frame.Zerk fitting accessed by the hole in the frame. Item #18 on the diagram. Usually the diff pinion splines are ok as it's harder steel than this coupler. Plus check around on this part number on price if you find it's what you need.https://www.partzilla.com/product/po...d228a0eca0cbc6 Also have to take off the rear caliper, main drive shaft, etc to remove the diff. If you have good help, you can pull the swing arm assembly out with diff attached. It's still a bugger sometimes to get the splines to line up while trying to hold the heavy swing arm. The 5 buck manual does go into good detail on tear down that can help you also. Can pay for itself on this one job.2000 Polaris Xpedition 425 Service Manual PDF Download
