Default Question about winch contactor

I just removed the wireless winch remote and all wiring. Ordered a cheap wiring kit, included rocker switch, wiring and contactor. Installed everything and it only works when you press the cable in button. When I press out button, the contactor makes a buzz sound. If I switch the two wires going from winch to contactor then out button works and in button buzz. Not sure what the deal is. Can't find any answers when I search

It's a Badlands winch. Yes the winch worked before I removed remote wireless kit.
Yes it is 100% the contactor making the buzzing sound and not the winch
I also had them send me a new contactor and it is still doing the same thing
I've checked the connections a dozen times, everything is tight, battery is new. Any help is appreciated

Doing the same thing with a different contactor would seem you've got something wired wrong or the cheap wiring kit and rocker switch may be the source of the problem. I never installed or removed a wireless remote and it's sensor,so that's about all I can come up with off hand.

I tried wiring it every possible way. if I switch the two wires that go from the winch to the contactor it will work the opposite way. It's like one of the post terminals doesn't work on both contactors can't seem to figure it out and I've wired plenty of winches

This is the kit https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?m...2F331840617734

I installed my own winch without any issues but it was a simple connect the colored wires...not good with trouble shooting electrical stuff myself...they used to call me sparky!!

Try reversing the wires from the battery on the contactor . The negative for the coils is internally wired { in the contactor } .

Seems you're not the only one with the remote that had problems. This how one guy phrased it.."This is a how-to for adding in a switch as well as the removal of the leech in Badland ATV winches, also called the remote solenoid. You can add the switch in conjunction with the remote, or remove the remote and run only a switch."
Harbor Freight Badlands 2500# Winch Switch Mod + Remote Reciever Removal Don't know if this helps or not.
