97 trailblazer 250 no spark
Hey everyone. I have a 97 trailblazer 250. No spark. Heres the low down. Havent had any issues in the few years ive owned it. Pull start only works. So, the other day i decide to change the battery. I somehow put the battery cables on backwards. Lol. Unhooked it as soon as i noticed, well, since then, it hasnt had spark. I put a new coil on, still nothing. Took all plastics off and checked wiring and it looks fine. Could it be the stator? Thanks in advance

Stator exciter coil black/red to brown/white wire (both leading to the cdi) should show around 120 ohms resistance. If this checks out, pull the black wire from the cdi kill circuit to isolate the cdi from the switches. Still no spark, then cdi would be suspect.Plus hooking up the battery backwards can fry regulators also.Once running check that it's charging around 14 volts back to the battery.

If you replaced the coil you just over looked it. Above the two modules(regulator and reverse limiter) Pull the black wire on the reverse limiter also from the terminal board and see if you have spark. Ignition isn't dependent on having a battery, but needs one for other items such as lights, the regulator, electric starter, etc.
