Only problem you will have with winch,is that you will go where you shouldn't because you can winch it out.Other wise go for it,get the #2000.

If I were you I would get at least a 2500 warn. I know a few people with Sportsmen and 500 Explorers and they say the 2000 model doesn't cut it with out a double line. I, and 3 other people, have even had to help a 2000 warn get a stuck Sportsman out. The tree was to far to double line and the mud(pure mud) was up to the bottom of the front springs.

I did notice my engine ran a little hotter than other sportsmans I ride with. I have the 2000, and in the heat of July and August, the fan on mine would come on more often than anyone elses. My temp light never came on at any time, though.

Yeah...go with a Warn 2500....the 2000 models have been outdated now for at least a year. I have the 2500 in the front. The only time I ever overheated has been on poker runs after I clog the radiator with mud!

Of the Polaris's I ride with that have winches, none over heated because of the winch.

I agree with the others, get AT LEAST the 2500. If you can afford it, the Rule 3500 might be a good choice too.

Without a double line, I have pushed the limits of the Warn 2500. A ****** block is a good add-on for ANY winch.

quad's right...you must have a ****** block! I've got one of those ole 2000#, but with a block it does mighty fine...although I haven't heard of the 3500# Rule...where do you get 'em and how much?

I had forgot about the #2500 good choice,I have heard the guy's in here talking about the rule.Everyone thinks #2000 sounds like plenty, after all quad only weights 650,but that winch has all it will take if your stuck at all. Later COB

Go to the product reviews section from the main page of ATV Connection and find the winch test/shootour with Rule & Superwinch tested. It should give you all the info you need.

I think the Rule is a 3300 pound winch, Highlifter.com sells them.
