Default Thermostat modified

Was wondering if I modified the thermostat to allow coolant to always flow will that hurt or help.
I'm on 2004 polaris 700 sportsman twin.

Bad idea! Thermostats are designed to keep your engine running at the desired temp but that also have a side effect. It allows the coolant in the radiator to cool down. If your over heating then your radiator might be plugged or fins clogged.
I would check that first. Make sure its clean and flowing good. After that i would try a new thermostat and after that the water pump. All this assuming your full on coolant.
