Scrambler 4 4x4 weight increase
#1
Here's the message I sent to Polaris last week:
I am looking into purchasing a 2000 Scrambler, and I am trying to decide between the 400 and 500 4x4's. Could you please tell me the reason for the 22 lbs increase in weight for the 400 from last year? The 500
weighed in at 542 lbs last year, and is the same this year, according to your website. The 400 was 519 lbs in 1999, and is now stated to be 541 lbs...
Any updates appear to have been made to both models, so if they were the source of the weight, the 500 would have increased also. Is this just a typo?
Thank you for your time.
Here's their response:
Thank you for your recent e-mail to Polaris Industries Inc.
There have been some minor changes to the 400 that have increased the weight, most noticeable would be that the rims are made of steel this year.
Thank you
Customer Service
I guess the 500 comes with aluminum rims? Make of it what you will.
