Wink 93 350L - Rusty Beater Edition

Hello all, I recently bought a seized Trail Boss 350L, with the scarcity and insane prices of these old parts I want to explore alternatives.

The quad is missing the fueltank, air box assembly, all center plastics.
  • Fuel tank, are there generic options? Anything sub $150 for a used part?
  • Intake air box - aftermarket options?
  • Downtube/coolant res - can I just buy a new coolant res and run tubing for the clutch vent?
As for the engine, there is light surface rust in the cylinder and piston, I am currently taking it apart:
  • There was a ton of rust in the flywheel area, the rebound spring is Thanos'd by water intrusion. What is the likelyhood the lower section is savable?
  • If the internals of the lower section were exposed to water and rusted, is this savable?
  • There is a bit of distortion in the cylinder cap, these are cheap, but should I replace?
  • I understand what I bought haha, my theory was I could always look for a 400cc motor to rebuild and drop in.
I will also need to start sourcing covers and plastics ... someone tore this down and sold or lost a ton of parts. They also cut the rear fender drivers side off... So I need a rear plastic replacement.

Cleaned a bit, but you can just make out the wormy impression around 5 o clock

This was packed with wet rusty debris.

That is a great machine, I got one last year for free that was sitting in a shipping container for 18 years, had 3,000 hours on it. I cleaned the gas tank and oil tank and replaced the lines and filters and it ran great after then. I have beaten it up as much as possible because it was free and it has miraculously survived, the front bumper on it is indestructible, I've used it and just driven into 5 inch trees and knocked them over. I sunk it in a pond up to the seat and then it froze overnight and when I pulled it out it drove away.

I recommend getting a new engine for it and then finding a part out of another machine for the rest of the parts. It is a good machine when it works, well worth the money, and I also had a 400L but I really didn't notice a huge power difference.

But my recommendation is to find a part out of a 350L or 400L near you and make one good machine.

The fuel tanks and coolant res could be rigged up I think the air box should be right, these engines are picky with the air and fuel mixture.

Thanks man. After looking around for spare parts, it seems like getting a second machine with a good motor is the best bet. I got one pending right now for $400 with all the parts I need.
