I just put a HPD Roller Shift Drum Conversion in the secondary clutch of the SC.
The unit is a beautiful piece of billet CNC work. The rollers are mounted in a "double shear" configuration, that is, both ends of the axle that the roller rides on is supported by the drum. You have to remove the buttons from the sheave and drill out the tapped holes to 1/4 inch and remove some of the casting on the back of the sheave with a file. Bolt in the unit with some locktite on the bolts and reassemble.
BE SURE TO PRE-LOAD THE SPRING!! I made the mistake and had to tear it back apart to turn the clutch 1/3rd turn CCW to make it act right.
I'm supposed to go to the hunting camp on Sunday, so, I'll have a report when I get back.

I went to the hunting camp on a GPS Mapping mission and took the Scrambler to try out all of the mods I made over the winter months.
I parked the Scrambler during hunting season as I didn't want the scent of two stroke oil on me while deer hunting.
The roller clutch worked flawlessly, all it took to haze the rear tires was a little more right thumb pressure. Sliding the back end out in a corner was effortless and I rode some old ridge top logging roads out and was able to shift the rear around trees easily.
The 39PWK drasticly improves throttle response, but I need to tune the slow jet a little, as it may be a bit rich still.
Also, the quad ran over 69 MPH on the paved road going uphill, I had to shut it down to make a curve, so I didn't get all that it had in it.
That blast was clocked with a Garmin GPS 76 with DGPS and was accurate to +/- 5 feet most of the day depending on what was blocking the satellites.

Captnemo, I recently installed my HPD roller and agressive clutch kit. I had to drill my 1/4 " holes slightly larger cause the screws wouldnt thread in when assembled. Im not sure which mod is performing the best (the roller of the front kit) but this thing accelerates real hard now. I didnt expect such an improvement like this without motor mods. To me these mods are worth the money. gj

Capt.

What needle, PJ, and MJ are you running in your 39PWK? Did they come with the carb? I have just installed one in my 400, and it runs like a dog low to mid, but haulsass up top.

What other mods have you got, and any problems with them, or caused by them?

I too would like to know how you are jetted...I would like to avoid other "problems" if you know what I mean. The dealer wanted to install a "thermometer thingy" on my exhaust but said it would run me 500$...sounds kind of extreme.

What jetting were you running in your carb. I don't want a melt down as you have just had. I am on my 2nd top end rebuild in 2 months, don't want a third. (2nd was caused by a faulty spark plug breaking off and hammering its selfinto the piston and sleeve and rings and head and my wallet!)

THE ROLLER CLUTCH IS THE ONLY WAY TO FLY, WE JUST INSTALLED IT ON MY SISTER 400 AND IT IS AWESOME. THE INSTALL IS BEST LEFT TO A PRO BECAUSE OF THE DRILLING AND TAPPING BUT YOU CAN DO IT YOURSELF. I INSTALLED THE FMF PIPE, PORTED, 14 TO 1 COMPRESSION COOL HEAD, V-FORCE REEDS, U.F.O. AIRFOIL IN THE CARB, K&N FILTER, AND THE ROLLER CLUTCH. THIS THING IS A ROCKET SHIP, WE ARE TURNING 55 PONIES AND GETTING THEM FREELY TO THE GROUND WITH THE ROLLER CLUTCH. THIS THING RUNS RIGHT WITH OUR RAPTOR AND SHREDS OUR HIGHLY MODDED WARRIOR. THE ONLY THING I GOT THAT KILLS IT IS MY ZILLA'S. MY SISTER LOVES SHREDDING THE BOYS ON THIS THING. I SHOULD BE TAKING IT OUT THIS WEEKEND TO DO A FEW GPS RUNS SO I WILL SEE WHAT HAPPENS.

The jetting isn't quite right yet, just of idle it's got a soft spot and I'mn still working on it.
Here's my current jetting:
EEG Needle clip 1 notch lean from center, 168 Main Jet, 38 Slow Jet 1 1/4 turns out on the air screw. 92 octane pump gas mixeda t 32:1 with Polaris Gold Synthetic. Elevation varied from about 250 to 500 feet above sea level, temp about 80 Degrees f.
I'm on vacation this week and played with the secondary clutch changed from 16 lbs of pretension, to 11 lbs, and lost quite a bit of low end "snap" and changed it back to the 16 lbs setting.

You can buy an EGT setup for way less than five hundred. You should be able to buy one for about $150 but you will probably have to make your own mounting bracket.
