Muddy Radiator
#1
I have been doing some maintenance work on the Magnum (valve clearance check, oil, brakes) and decided that while things were tore apart, I would do a little extra cleaning. I took the garden hose and got up near the radiator shrouds and I could not believe the amount of mud that came out. I have not had any overheating problems, but this probably was not helping the cooling process out any. I generally take the garden hose to the front of the machine when I get done with a ride, guess I will have to start getting up underneath. Most of the mud was the brown clay from Wayne National Forest. That stuff can be about impossible to clean
. If any one is having overheating trouble or thinks the fan is coming on way to often, I strongly suggest that you get the hose up in there and clean the radiator off. Be careful not to bend the fins though.

My Sport overheated last summer. After being towed back to camp, I was giving it a thorough inspection, and noticed the radiator was a solid wall of mud. I now give it a good 5 minutes with the hose, whether I was in mud or not.
We are going to the Wayne National Forest June 8th. There will be roughly 30 riders, on utilities and sport bikes. Anyone is more than welcome to join us. Only if you like to have a great time, though.

That Wayne National Forest mud is horrible to get out of the radiators
. Upon returning from rides, I would take a bucket of water and slop it into the radiator to get some of the mud out. This has prevented overheating thus far. I can't make it to Wayne on June 8. We are heading up to the UP in Michigan on June 9 for a week of fishing and riding. Email me or post a thread when you are heading down again and I will try to make it. I would like to get down to ride with you this summer. The wife is pregnant, so she will be staying home this summer, so I am always looking for riding opportunities.
