My bike is loosing power in the water. As I approach a deep spot in the water I put the the bike in to the rack, the pour on the power( 3/4 throttle in first gear) and upcomes the front and across I go. This works well unless the hole is too wide, because the bike will begin to bog down, but once out of the hole she will pick up and run great, with out ever shutting down.

All vent lines on the Xped have been extended to the the pod, the carb drain is plugged off ; the air box and exhaust are stock. After I cross there is never any water in the carb vent, drain or airbox (unless I sink due to the power loss). The plug has dielec. grease all around.

What am I missing?

Is your PVT snorkled? Sounds like waters getting into the belt housing and the belt is slipping. That's what usually happens to mine in deep water.

00TB250,

He didn't say it, but his profile says he's on an Xpedition. No PVT.

BBQ, is it missing out while in the water, or do you just FEEL like it loses power ? Pushing that much water would TAKE alot of power.

Dave

If you are standing the bike up it is sucking water in through the top of the airbox. The older the the box is the worse the lid will warp. The heat and the age will warp the lid. Also I have seen alot of the Polaris bike have problems with the stock exhaust.

The Power loss is like I let off the throttle, and the RPMs fall to an idle rate.I never have water in the air box, and the power comes right back once the water is 3 foot or less. So could the water enter at the joints in the stock exhaust and cause a restriction in the gas flow? And if it is the pipe is there a way to seal the two joints?

425 Xpedition,
I can't find a pipe for the Xped ( except the HIGH dollar HL Kit ), How hard is it to modify the 425 Mag Supertrapp.

The amount of water that comes in the airbox is very little. It only takes a mist of water down the carb to make the bike spit and sputter. A friend of mine Xpedition does the same thing but his Magnum does not. My Magnum does not do this either. Both Magnums still have the stock exhaust. If you want a pipe let me know, I am thinking of selling mine off of my bike (cheap). Supertrapp has a pipe out now that fits the Xpedition and the Magnum. The only problem I have had with the new pipe is that it melted the plastic in one spot on my Magnum.

I had the exact same problem after snorkeling my Xped. I bought the HL kit hoping to fix the problem but that didnt do it. After tinkering with the jetting for about 4 months, I took the snorkel off and returned it to the factory air intake and it runs great. Ive gone through the same holes where it lost power before and now it goes right thru, full rpm till you let off.

Is your bike completely stock or have you changed the jeting with a K/N filter kit?
