What's the best way to tighten up my front shocks, without completely losing the ride?

Highlifter.com sells a Progressive spring kit for Polaris's, it is adjustable.

Polaris sells a rubber spacer to go in the middle of springs. Very low cost and does a good job, and easy to install (dish liquid soap and jack). I would try them before going the progressive route. I installed a winch and bumper, added weight caused front end to bottom out on jumps. The spacer kit has eliminated bottom out of springs.

I would highly recommend a set of Vise-Grips. Get the brand name! Not some Tiawanees spinnof garbage. BUT, Make sure that you get the inch/english version, as Pol's don't use metric YET. Tiawan is metric and may not work.

The best and most complete way of doing this is to get complete strut cartriges from either Fox or Works Performance. This will give you the ride quality you want without being too stiff. Here's a little known fact, the standard Polaris struts have NO compression dampening on them. They (the engineers at the factory) feel this is best accomplished by heavier springs rather than compression dampening.

HyperSport,
Have you or anyone you know ever tried these strut cartridges and has an honest opinion of wether it was really worth the effort? Would like to know the adv./disadv. before I swap out the struts before their time. Improved handling on a heavy machine like my SP500 would be great. Thank you.

Michimaniac,

I've tried both. The Fox struts are on my G/F's Trailblazer. The Works are on my HyperSport. The big difference is, like I said, the compression dampening. On an MX track recently, I NEVER bottomed the front suspension doing jumps that would probably break a utility machine or over work the stock front suspension on a non modified Sport.

They will probably be a little stiffer for the small stuff, but if an unsuspected hole or bump should crop up, you'll be glad you put them on.
