Okay, let me try this one more time. I've got kicked off of AOL twice already trying to type this topic. Anyway, here it is again.

To shorten it up, I just need to find out once you take the hub cover off of the hub, does this damage the O-ring. On my friend's Xplorer, we took the hub off once before and we put it back on. A couple of days later, he found that is was leaking. We took it back off again tonight and cleaned the O-ring and all of the surrounding area and snugged it up real good. I'm wondering if is was just dirty or if we ruined the O-ring. If I'm not mistaken, after you remove the cover, you are supposed to replace it anyway (?). I just need an expert's opinion. For my friend and I are very illiterate about mechanic work.

I haven't ran into that problem yet. Just make sure the o-ring doesn't get pinched when pushing the cover back in.

always replace "o" rings when doing any service because "o " rings take a set and they may not seal when they are put back.

As cheap as they are, I'd just replace them.. I've gotten away with what ya'll did so far (cause of laziness) but, its wise to change them out..

Thanks guys for your replies. I will tell my friend just to change the O-ring. Now that I know that we didn't to anything wrong, it somewhat relieves me. Thanks for your post.
