I was talking to my dealer today and their sales rep told them that a Sportman 700 with a 680cc motor, new generation 5 chassis and fuel injection is coming in October of this year. They also said they were told to sell all of the HOs now. Start saving your pennies!

They also said that a sport model is due out in 2002 or 2003. It will have a manual trans., double wishbone front suspension and the big 700 motor.

Here is their phone number.... 607-286-7207

Thats funny I just took a tour of the Spirit Lake, Iowa Polaris plant yesterday and saw nothing new except watercraft. Must be a BIG secret

Seriously your just repeating what I said over a month ago. If this new Sportsamn comes out it had better weigh less than 650 pounds or people in Wisconsin will not be able to register them.

BTW I did see some interesting Victory stuff but this is an atv forum...

i wonder why it would be 680cc rather than 780cc. the new Frontier sled has a four-stroke engine that looks like it was designed just for a quad. its a 780 twin with EFI, or maybee there making a smaller version of this engine for the sp700.

i hope october isnt to late, the new grizley is released in June, and the new Quest 650 is out in june also, and the kawie650 is already out.

I dont know why they would want to sell all the Ho's now, they have a long time untill October, and not everyone will have the money for the sp700.

i think they will still make the HO even after the sp700 is out.

later

I talked to a Polaris Rep this weekend and he said it will be a 780 twin and will be released in september. I would bet the HO stays and the 400 sp gets phazed out.

I know a guy that works closely with the new polaris machines. He rode the 700 and the new sport machine. The 700 sp is all that it is said to be. The sport is more than anything you could expect. They are trying to slow it down a bit because it tops out at 82 mph! This is a very rep. sorce and is just time before it happens.
