I am looking for a quad for my girlfriend. I ride a modded 440ex and she likes the polaris which one is faster? Better for trails? she is 20 and like 120 pounds. Any info would be appreciated.

 

She doesnt want to get blown away on the trails no chance but which one will keep up better?

 

The 250 two-stroke is MUCH faster and has alot of inexpensive mods to make it screem. It is lighter also.

 

i have never ridden a trailboss but my friends girlfriend had a trailblazer and it was a very nice trail bike. she also weighed about 120 lbs and had no trouble handling it. it steered very easily and handled very well. at the time, the rest of us were riding 400 2 stroke sports and scramblers and she had absolutely no trouble keeping up during trail riding, now, on a wide open road, that's a different story...

Have you had anyproblems from your 400? I am about to buy a Xplorer 400 to replace my 250.

 

My good friend has a '01 325 Trailboss, although nice, it is SLOW and HEAVY! I blow him away on my Lakota. It has a hard time making it up sandy hills to. It loses all it's momentum and the rear tires just dig in. I would prob. choose the Trailblazer over the Trailboss. Best thing to do is let her ride both and she what she likes.

i bought the 400 scrambler 4x4 new in 97 and sold it this past winter. i never had a single problem with it. i did not make any modifications to it, kept it stock. i was not excessively hard on it and i did all the general maintenance and it was running as good when i sold it as when i bought it. my friend still has his 400 sport that he bought at the same time and he has not had any problems with it either. I have nothing but good things to say about polaris' 400 2 stroke.

 

Alljuice: I have a buddy that is selling a 98 Sport for $2600. It is in great shape, has an RcR stage 1 kit on it, along with Douglas .190s and Razrs all around, and a Wiseco piston. He has the stock parts to go with it. email me if anyone is interested. It's in Cuyahoga Falls OH.

 

the trailblazer is much better for trail riding. and you can get a kit from hpd that they claim will make it will keep up with a sport. but if you want to go that fast you might as well get a scrambler.

 

I own the 325 Boss and my brother has a Blazer, both 2001 models. While the Blazer wins on flat out drag races (by a small margin) there is not a lot of difference on the trail. I have better low end power and can get thru rough steep stuff easier, while he has a little lighter steering and his jumps and wheelies a little easier. The power on the Boss will increase a lot after it breaks in thouroughly (5-6 tanks of gas). I find the Boss more comfortable because of the better seat and softer ride but that is all about how it fits me. I can ride both machines about equally fast once I adjust to how the power hits, but I have found with true beginners the Boss's lowend power carries them thru stuff easier than the Blazer because it needs a little more momentum to do the same thing.
