From what I can find the Xplorer will be in the 2002 lineup, I say this because I have seen the 2002 owners manual and it shows how to service the 2002 Xplorer 400, So I think that would tell us we will see it for 2002.
For your next question I don't know the price for the 2002 Xplorer.

I was at the Polaris Dealer yesterday (Tues. 12 June) and saw a 2002 Scrambler X. The first thing I noticed were the PAINTED RIMS, NOT POLISHED... They also had a decal on them that looked like it was made in a label machine that said "CUSTOM ALUMINUM WHEELS". I don't know if the dealer put them on there, or if it was done in MN.
The parts guy told me that there had been some "problems" with the shiny wheels.
Go Figure...

Let know if this doesn't make sense to anyone else either.
If Polaris is still offering the Sportsman 500 HO for 2002 AND an all new 700 how much more money do you think it is going to be??
They can't price it the same as the 500 because no one would buy the 500 then. If they discount the 500 then the 2000 models that are left won't sell. And I don't think they would sell very many 700's at $1,000 more than the new Grizzly.
So in my mind they either are not going to introduce an all new 700 or they aren't going to sell the 500 HO in 2002 but if the above post is correct I would assume we have our answer.
No new 700 for 2002......

Its not terribly uncommon for car manufacturers to release mid-year model changes. Its happened before with snowmobile manufacturers... why not ATVs?
Maybe Polaris is pulling one of these deals... I hope I hope I hope...

It could be very possible on a mid-season change. Last year we got '01 DUs and the first couple were not HOs. Then they introduced the HOs. Many people thought that all the '01s were HO, but they actually had several '01 sportsmans that were not. So as far as a mid-season change, that could very well happen. I have been bugging our Polaris sales reps but they are not letting go of more info than they have to. The one did state last fall that something will show up in about a year, it is getting close.
