I was reading "ATV Magazine" and i was looking at there review on the Sp500 adn htey said it had one of the best trannys adn braking, but they also said it had a disconnected front end and some quality problems, they alkso classified it as a machine not made for performance rahter than comfort, are there any Sp500 owners out there that can give me there input, because i want a comfortable machoen but i want it to last and i was it to have some what more performance than my ' 96 honda 300 4x4
Can you help me here, it seemed that they didnt like this machine

Have to agree it seems some of the mags out there would rave about a Honda even if Honda put a 90 cc engine in the 400ex frame! Ask real people about there Sportsmans, Magazine are getting really biased, ad revenue is worth more to them than honesty.

97TB had it right...go test drive one.
Thats all it usually takes to surprize Honda owners...
is a test ride on the right Polaris.
The SP500 has plenty of power, and you won't be saying what most of my shifting friends say:
"I like to shift. I prefer it." AND
"I start off usually in 2nd or 3rd gear"
A friend just picked up the 400 twostroke Explorer, and it is a kick in the grass.
Big, compared to a Honda, but for the trails, he can keep up with most anyone...with a medium utility machine.

The 400 4X4 is a better mix of comfort and performance. Plus the independant suspension on the 500 has A BUNCH of moving parts to break and wear out. The 400 is hard to beat. I ride with a buddy who has one.

Clindt,
The 400 two stroke is a pretty snappy machine...good power band...that tranny you will love...and 4x4. It's got a good kick to it.
And it has long suspension for a utility quad. The MacPherson Struts are nice on the trails...somebody correct me but I would guess 8.5 inches average travel. I'm a big boy and I LIKE travel on a machine. Any machine.
So, "kick in the grass" is a term I would use for a machine that can fly and is fun to ride.
