I've got a 98 400 sport that blew a head gaskit. After looking on the head where the gaskit blew at, I noticed what look to be a indention behind the water jacket.(Same side as cylinder) But it's not very deep at all, and the dent is about 1/8"wide x 5/8"long. Enough to give me problems. And it could be easily removed by shaving the head, but I didn't know if it would hurt because of the tolerance between piston and the head. I'm open to suggestions. Also what does the shops actually do to the head when you send them off to be modified. Do they shave the head down, or do they increase the size of the combustion chamber? I thought if I could I would like to send it to HPD to have a trail head mod done to it, but I didn't know if it would fix my problem.

You head can easily be modified and fixed . That small groove will be removed during machining .
