My scrambler has developed a rubbing noise. It sounds like the brakes are dragging. In reverse or neutral it doesn't happen(coasted to a stop in neutral). I could not see anything making contact, and the brakes still have meat on them.

I was wondering if the chain can make this noise? I have about 600 miles on it, and have the polaris skid plates on it.

01 Scrambler 500 4x4

Thanks,

Rainman

First off, spray all mud off and out of the caliper. Second, clean your chain with warm soapy water, and an old rag or sponge(do not spray it with pressure because water will find its way into the o-rings on the chain). Spray of all mud that can be stuck between the rotor and the skid plate, and the round disk by the chain and the skid plate. Also see if you maybe got some grass wrapped inside your axle housing, because that happened to me before. All I did was grease it up until part of the grass came out with the grease, then I pulled it out with a screwdriver. Thats all I could think of. I also think there is bearings in the axle housing. Maybe those coould have some dirt grinding in them.
