jetting a 400 scrambler?

my friend has a new 2001 400 scrambler and he bought a kit from hot seat that come with clutch kit/pipe and silencer/k=n.they sent him 2 main jets for tuning but doesnt he also need to rejet the pilot jet?his stock main jet is a 240 and the stock pilot jet is a 52.they sent him a 250 and a 260 main jet but no pilot jet.does he need it or not?

No he doesn't need to do anything with the pilot jet, main jet only.

Don't forget about the needle jet. This control your 1/4 to 3/4 throttle. Raising the clip will lean it out, lowering the clip will richen it up. Theres more on this, if you want. I get you some good websites on carbs.

Howdie,

W/ just these minor mods, there is no need in fooling w/ the needle unless you live at startling altitudes.

Always start w/ the richest jet and work your way down. I personally would run the 260. @ this point, there is really no need in adjusting the needle or changing the pilot.

Drop in the kit and let her fly,
