Trailblazer00,
I've got a 38mm tmx Mikuni on my 99 TB.
It came with an adapter that connects from the carb to the intake port. I did have problems adjusting the throttle and oil pump cables!! My air box has been totally removed and replaced with the K&N filtercharger.
I don't know about the 42mm carb. Hotseat has the 38mm carb for the Trailblazer which in MY opinion works pretty good BUT is not worth the cost to install it.

JIM 99TB with Hotseat/HPD mods

Trailblazer00,
To remove the airbox just remove the two screws at the back, loosen the clamp that holds the airbox to the carb and pull it up and straight back. Then clamp your K&N filtercharger, part # RU-1760 to the carb.

Trailblazer00,
Is your filtercharger a (RU-1760)?
If its just the drop-in kind there is nothing on it to attach it to the carb! The RU-1760 filtercharger comes with a rubber bootie already attached to it. That rubber boot is what attaches to the carb. Also I don't know if the RU-1760 will fit on a 42mm carb. It could have a different size intake which would make for an extremely tight fit for the filtercharger to go over.

Ya, but will a 42mm carb work because the 38mm and 42mm are about the same price.

Trailblazer00,
I have a Mikuni catalog that says a 38mm carb will work on a 250 or bigger engine.
The TMX carb gave my already modified TB a good boost but it does use more gas and I only put 92 octane or better in it. The 42mm will PROBABLY work. BUT work alot better on a bored and stroked engine and not just one with bolt-on mods.
