Hey Guys,

My father is in search for a quad, and we just went over and looked at a 1999 Scrambler 500 4x4. It's in overall good shape with the normal scratches and a little fading in the plastic, but nothing big. The only problem we really found on it was that the clutch cover had a melted spot on it. It was on the top of the round part of the cover (where the writing is). The guy that owned it didn't know for sure how it happend, and didn't notice it until it was idling one day and he could here a clicking noise. He took a closer look and noticed the melting. The clutch must hit it a little bit when the thing is idling. We know that the belt on the machine is the second belt that was put on it. Could he have had the belt slipping so bad it generated enough heat to melt the plastic on the guard or do you think it was something else? Also, do you think that $3500 is a good price to give for the above quad? Like I said, the clutch cover is the only flaw that we noticed. Thanks.

-Josh

sounds like the belt has gotton hot before an has melted the cover you just need to get a new cover. The guy who owned or someone might have try to fix it with something hot an put the melted spot in it.
