Hello to all you folks,I ride a 2000 Magnum 325 4x4....A weekend on it is better than Prozac for me.....Anyway I do a lot of creek riding and have minimal problems drowning out or with the belt....but sometimes I hit a deeper spot than normal...and am wondering about snorkeling the carb intake very similar to how I've seen the belt housing done ...Anybody else tried this? Also would make sense to snorkel the exhaust.......Looking forward to hearing from Y'ALL...

Rdrd,
I have helped a friend of mine snorkel his sportman and we snorkel everything Belt, carb, and exhaust. For the belt and carb he did without me, but he has 2 snorkels come out in front off the quad and they are up about 16 inches above the racks with a 90 degree bend that faces toward the rear to prevent the water rushing in. He also has screens and cut apart a outerwears prefilter and zip tied it over to hole to help prevent water from going in ( make sure to use a rigid screen permantly mounted and then cover it with the prefilter material to prevent the prefilter form being sucked in). For the exhaust I made him a 2 foot extention with a 90 degree turn also facing rearward. I welded a 3 Inch extention to the exhaust output, and then I attached snorkel with a clamp. It is a pipe that has a 90 degree bend on the bottom facing forward and a 90 degree bend at the top facing rearward. The snorkel fits over the 3 inch extention snugly and then i clamp it togehter and I have a metal suport bracket coming off of the rear rack to keep the snorkel from moving side to side. This has worked well and it is also quickly removeable so it doesn't get all bent up, or caught on tree limbs when he doesn't need it. Hope this helps.

Thanks Multiple500's,much help...In searching the net I find sites that are geared toward racing atv's or setting them up for hunting...Nice to find this forum where folks have already done the things I've been kicking around in my head...Was beginning to think I was crazy thinking of "snorkeling" an atv.But now I know I'm not alone in this MADNESS.......
