I had the same problem with my 98 xplorer. I finally got a friend to ride it while I rode beside and watched the chain in question. Turns out the chain was bad and a couple of the links were binding up and wouldnt straighten out. I replaced the chain and no more problems.

I had the same problem. Turns out the rollers were damaged on two links. The chain was 2 years old anyway, so after a new chain, ITS ALL GOOD BRO!

Like offrdr15 how he said he had some bad links. I had 4 broken rollers after 3 months of use. this was al lmy fault. I had tightened my chain up to tight. This can also happen if you have it to loose. So if your chain has been tightened lately or is really loose the rollers are broken. And if you put it up on a jack and move the wheels with your hand you can see where the rollers are broken.
