What kind of oil and filter do you guys use/suggest?? I really don't want to use OEM/Polaris stuff because the dealer has ripped me off too many times in the past. I ride around 5000 plus elevation and it can get very cold.
Do you prefer synthetic or regular oil?? I think Mobile 1 makes a filter that fits my bike, by the way it's a '99 SP 335. The dealer says I should run 0W40. I'm thinking 10-40 or 20-50. Really not that up to date on oil knowledge though. Any suggestiions are appreciated. Thanks, Drew

PADZZ2,my friend, the dealer is correct on this one.The colder the weather is,the LOWER the first number should read on the oil you buy, example 0-40,the 0 in the number is MUCH better for your quad in severly cold weather than lets say the 10 or 20 in a 10-40 or 20-50 oil. I'd also stick with fully synthetic oil also, anything with a API CERTIFIED ''SH '' rating should work, you dont have to stick with Polaris brand oils.

Mobil 1 is supposed to work great, and if its high elevation and low temp, the first number does need to be lower. Just make sure that when you switch engine oils that you drain as much as possible . The sp335 manual lists how to do this, because some stays in the case. We have run synthetic oils before and came across a nasty problem. Some synthetic oils when mixed react very badly to each other. We had left about 1 cup in a strainer area of a large compressor unit and the 2 oils when combined created a rubbery jello like substance.

PADZZ2
search for the topic...oil filter cross reference..or under my name Pfelect... a friend of mine cross-referenced the fram part# for me so I could use a higher quality filter. There are several to choose from.
