I had a hotseat performance speed kit on my scrambler 500 4x4 and recently took the pipe and jet off and put the stock ones back on. My question is if it's OK to leave the clutch springs and weights in if everything else is stock? My scrambler 500 is backfiring when i slow down and I am not sure I jetted it right. Could it be from the clutches? Please help, I want to keep it stock because I had less troubles with it when it was stock. I would prefer to leave the aftermarket clutch parts in because I am tired of working on it but if they must come out, then I will take them out. Thanks

Default Scrambler jetting

With the kit you had in it they would have a muffler and maybe a different head pipe. Make sure you did not leave the head pipe on this will cause it to run lean. If it is a 500 H.O. motor you should be running #155 main jet and #3 position on the needle in the slide also make sure you are running the stock needle I am not sure of the needle size without looking it up. But they will backfire if you are running lean so check it out before you have a motor failure. Also with your clutching I would pull it out those clutch kits are made to run with the extra hp the pipe kit gives so it is slightly possiable you are over working the motor and the pistons is getting too hot. But I would double check the jetting first!
