Polaris 400 big bore
#3
rmx251,
Aaen makes a big bore kit for the 400, it'll turn it into a 440. I hear they even have a 470 kit out there. I'm a little curious why you would want it. You can make over 70 horsepower from a standard bore motor. The big bore kit won't give you any more and maybe a little less. As you increase the size of the bore, you will lower the ports. If you lower the ports, you lower the operating RPM range. In other words, you will get gobs of low end power, but no top end.

Excellent point Mike. The $$$ you would spend on the kit would be almost 1/2 of a race kit (or trail depending on riding style) which would give you better overall performance, and leave you 6 overbores incase things go wrong. Mess up a BBK and you'll need to resleeve at minimun, big bucks.
