Chain came off
#1
I was outside yesterday doing donuts and 180's on my driveway in the snow. I had been out there a while. And I just spun around this one time and gased it to go again and I just sat there. I thought maybe it was my belt being wet, that I've heard you guys talk about. So I hopped off and left it running, to let the belt dry. Well I just so happened to look down and see my chain off. I read somewhere on here before it was just like putting a bicycle chain on. So I easilt put it back on. My question is...has anyone else had this happen to them? Is my chain to lose and that's why it came off?

The chain driven Polaris quads (new ones) have relatively easy chain adjustment procedures. Just loosen the 2 bolts on the back of the bearing carrier for the rear axle (also holding on the hitch if you have the optional hitch). Then take something like a small rod and put it in the hole on the chain guard (round disk). Then push on the rod and push the machine forward or pull backward until the rod slides into the hole on the axle carrier. Then it's just simply pushing the machine forward or backward to tighten or loosen the chain up. When there's an inch or so of play in the chain (up and down) with the machine sitting by itself with no weight on it, then tighten the bolts, and take out the rod of course. Then you're back at riding!

Rooster is correct, but you will also want to loosen the brake caliper bolt, just to the left of the other two bolts. At least, that's what I have to do on my '99 SC400
