I am thinking about putting a-arm guards and skid plate on my 2001 Sportsman 500 HO, but am curious about how they will affect my ability to reach grease zerks and how strong the plastic is. $150 seems pretty expensive for five pieces of plastic. Has anyone put these on their 500 HO that can give me some guidance.

Thanks,

kansas

Get them. They are very durable and keep the grime off your machine. You have full access to your zerts. I put the polaris set, skid plate, A-arm guards with minimal effort.

I have all 5 pices on my 2002 H.O. I love them I got them in yellow to match my H.O. The center skid plate is held on with self tapping screws(flip H.O. up and drill 7/32 holes, then use self tappers)A-arm plates are held on with conduit clamps(easy on/easy off)These pices along with the brush guard look real sharp.Just get the same color as your H.O. I have no problem with grease fittings(but I do take off my tires when I grease)

Be careful. I do not know which brand it was but I saw some A-Arm plastic yellow aftermarket guards actually cut a CV boot last weekend when very heavy mud pushed the guard back and into the boot. The sharp edge on the top of the guard cut into the boot like a knife and sliced it all the way across. Was this a freak accident I don't know? But I did see it happen.
