I don't want this post to become a steam chamber, but, why is it that when some immature idiot comes into the Polaris forum bashing or making fun of Polaris, we're wrong for saying something back? I mean didn't we all just see this happen? When we came back sticking up for our rides, someone called US immature?!?!If I went into any other forum and said that one or all of those quads sucked, wouldn't at least one of them say something back? The Polaris guys always look bad for sticking up for our rides. WHY??? I hear it when I ride. I hear it hear...alot on this forum! I'm sick of being told how big a POS my quad is. It's not!!!

My $0.69

Hey it is ok to let off some steam. I just had to on a 400ex rider who stated basically that I lied in another forum. He got all offended when I stated I witnessed a "radically built" Sportsman beat a slightly modded 400ex to 50 mph (then the ex spanked him hard). If you have the coin, anything can be fast. I do not know how many members out there know me but none of them can state that I have lied or pretended to know something that I did not.

Guys I don't know about you, but I am a lover of the sport and I choose to ride Polaris. If there are people out there who do not like that, then they know where to plant their lips.

Yup most honda owners are so mad they wasted there money they dont know what to do.
When they get tired of crying they start to type throwing crap our way "polaris sucks" "automatic atv's suck" "the belt slips in the water" bla bla bla bunch of crap.

Honda owners are sad they dont know what to do and to bash the BETTER quad POLARIS is to show ignorance and stupidity so they are Full of CRAP

Well dont ever let a Hondu owner invest your money

Honda owners wasted their money. Lets compare repair and maintence bills over the last 5 years shall we.

12 Years of Honda Quads and all I ever have had to do is change the oil. And I have Never had to grease anything. Hum, No grease=no repairs. Perhaps honda is onto something...

Perhaps they aren't. Go into the Honda forum and read "my letter to Honda"

If it has mechanical parts, it will have problems sooner or later.

My riding group has every brand of quad in it, and from what I've witnessed, the guys with Suzukis have the the least amount of downtime. Beleive it or not, the guy with the new Ruby misses out on the most rides because "something ain't right, I'm gonna take 'er into the shop."

My Kodiak just got out of the shop. I had my Polaris over two years, and it couldn't tell you what color the shop walls were.

first of all why does it matter what type quad we ride?we are the ones who bought them right?

so there is no need to bash other peoples quads you dont like polaris ?fine just dont buy one its that simple.nobody is going to force you too.myself i like my scram.i dont like yamaha's but... i dont get on here and say they are junk.because alot of people ride them and like them so thats fine if thats what they like then thats there choice.

in short lets all just have fun riding our quads and use this forum to help each other out.

I must admit, I was a die hard Hondu man for a long time. I always made fun of Polaris four wheelers. To me, they were "snowmobiles on wheels". My Hondu's reliability was legendary. Only ever let me down once.

Then one day a friend got sick of his new rough riding 450S Hondu and traded it in on the the fastest, most comfortable, 4x4 he could find. It was an 99 Explorer. When I saw it the first time, I laughed. I couldn't believe he had bought a Polaris. After riding with him a couple of times, seeing how fast it was and how mean it was in the deepest of mud, I thought this is one Bad A$$ wheeler.

Well, a few months went by or so and I came across a 96 300 Express for $700. The guy was desperate for some money. He had to pay some fines immediately or go to jail. This wheeler was probably the most abused wheeler I'd ever seen or still ever seen for that matter. Everything was that could wear out or break was so. However it still pull started and would move( although chain and sprockets were warn out). I, being a Hondu Man, didn't want a Polaris. I "thought" I liked my rough rider. After about an hour he convinced me to atleast take it for a ride. I went for a quick ride up over a hill and back. When I pulled in, I had the biggest smile on my face. I told him, I'll take it. I thought I would keep my Hondu and have this thing for friends to ride. After some more riding, I grew to love this thing after about a day. It was faster, more stable and alot better ride than my Hondu. Even though everything that could break was broke it still started first pull every time. This made me think that this could be every bit of a reliable machine as my Hondu. After a week I sold the Hondu to fix up the Express.

In the last two years I've spent $2500 on my Polaris. With no regrets. I still haven't fixed it completely(still doesn't have reverse or good struts). I've had to modify parts to make it better than some of the stuff they use. They like other manufactures have and use some pretty crappy stuff sometimes.

Really though this thing has never let me done. Other than two times I got some bad gas. My belt only ever slipped twice. Once I set my clutch up way to agressively. The other time the "belt got wet". Not because I was riding in mud or water but, because we had gotton a really really bad thunderstorm and the wind blew the rain down my clutch vents.

My point to telling you all of this is just to illustrate how one Hondu man came to see the light that Polaris shines. I believe that Polaris makes a quad that best suits all aspects of ATVing only really lacking in overall long term reliability. Everyone makes good machines. However it is this ex-Hondu mans opinion that Polaris puts alot of good features on the best RIDE that any of them could make on a UTILLITY ATV. I am not bashing Hondu because even though they are a little rougher riding, they are still the kings of reliabilty and have been, I think for ever. I will still take my smooth riding, easy operating Polaris over any other UTILLITY atv out there.

I am Polaris!!!

This is my $.02 + $.02 + $.02 + $.....

Yes, let's keep it simple. If someone is having a problem of sorts, let's just concentrate on what we can do to fix it, not badmouth the machine, or the person driving it. I have seen cases where people say they can't get good life off a Polaris belt when all they need to do is realize the situation that burns belts (in this particular case, they revved up the engine a little as a 'hill hold' instead of using the brakes to keep from rolling backwards downhill. 30 seconds of polite advice, and now they couldn't be happier with their machine. Name - calling wouldn't have done any good at all.
You have to realize that in these forums we are all anonymous to an extent, and it is all to easy to forget that the person on the other end is likely a decent enough person for the most part.
One more ??? for the masses out there. Why is it the worst between Honda and Polaris? The Suzuki guys almost never bash, nor do the A/C folks. Why is that?
Maybe they know something the rest of us don't - as long as we ride, we are 'family' of sorts, and should remember that. Would you badmouth your brother/sister for driving a quad of a different color (OK maybe I shouldn't have asked - how about your favorite uncle???)
Take care, and play nice.

I am lucky up here Polaris seems to be the dominant atv owned. Honda being second, don't get allot of bashing in person, but who is going to bash a dozen Polaris riders 30 miles out in the woods LOL
After owning both, the plus sides of Polaris heavily out weigh (no pun intended) any negatives when compared to Honda. people can argue all they want, about who runs better and all that, but from what I have experienced first hand, my Polaris machines have run better, it is that simple or else I would be on a Honda again. Actually I would get the Grizz 660. I do not expect any machine will run for years with out repairs, if it does you do not ride it like I do.
Though I feel that the big bashers on here are more than likely teenagers, I have one at my home and she will argue over anything. Even if she has no chance of wining
We have another convert this year a guy I ride with got sick of his Yamaha, and bout a 2001 Sportsman 500 Remington edition and loves it.

Quadfather is right, (Can’t believe I said that) anything mechanical will need maintenance.

But come on, one post in the Honda forum, of a lemon Ruby hard means they “See more downtime” Most other Rubicon problems had been about screws falling out the shifter handle. In other words "Minor"

Now using Quadfather’s logic, Has anyone read the Polaris forum lately especially the thread titled?

“List your Polaris broken parts here.” Or how about “This is why the 700 is so heavy” And many many more.

My point is simply this. I don’t care what you ride, I have seen Hondas fail and I have seen Polaris shine. But you simply can’t argue that there are far more posts in the Polaris forum regarding mechanical failures or maintenance issues than Honda.

So I’ll say it again: Let compare receipts. 2001 Rubicon with 755 miles $24.00 for filters and $25.00 for oil. 3 Changes. That’s less than .06 per mile. In maintenance costs not including gas. Oh and I changed my oil sooner that Honda’s recommendations. So in reality if I followed Honda’s recommendations it would be cheaper yet.

My 96 Xpolrer: I Sold it with less that 1000 miles and my maintenance costs exceed $700.00
